N1 - Funding Information: Discriminating non-cardiogenic interstitial syndrome (NCIS) from cardiogenic pulmonary edema (CPE) is a major challenge on the intensive care unit (ICU). Debate exists on the role of lung ultrasound (LUS) in this matter [ 1 ]. This research letter contributes a theoretical viewpoint supported by original study results.
