Research interests

Welcome Wami’s interests lay in global health research, particularly in the area of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Africa. He works closely with the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) in Nairobi, Kenya, and other collaborators around the world on programs that bring together experts from different backgrounds and geographies to collaborate on research that will help drive change in the field of global health. More specifically, as a Joep Lange Research Fellow at The Amsterdam Institute of Global Health and Development, he works together with APHRC to establish a research program on chronic disease management as a concept in primary health care to strengthen the responsiveness of the health system to the management of both infectious and non-infectious diseases in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
